It was a bit of a “lie in” this morning since luggage did not have to be out until 8. Wheels Rolling at 9.
Had a decent breakfast at the hotel. First place to find hard-boiled eggs! All the breakfasts have had a nice selection of fruit and pastries and follow the full English custom of baked beans, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes, and thickly sliced bacon.
Finished breakfast about 8:30 and was able to watch a bit of the Pirates game. It was a rough first inning for Trevor Williams. Hopefully, he was just a bit rusty and will find his form sooner rather than later.
On the coach to visit the other large formation in the area. We traveled to the Kata-Tjuta dune viewing area. It was a fairly steep path up, but worth the walk.
From there it was to the gorge walk. This was a bit more treacherous and I only made it partially the way up. The stones were quite loose and the idea of spraining or breaking an ankle was not on my agenda. Barbara and Charles got through to the gorge and, hopefully, got some pictures that I will be able to share.
It was about a 45 minute drive back to the Towne Centre, where there was time for lunch. We had a large breakfast, so just got some cheese and cracker packs and enjoyed the warm sunshine. The one nice thing about visiting Australia in June is that there are no crowds and the temperatures are quite moderate. I much prefer walking in the sun at 65° than at 100°.
It was a relatively short drive to the airport, consisting of 2 gates for our 2:15 flight to Sydney. I was sitting on the right side of the airplane to get some good shots of Uluru from the air.
Did some writing on the plane. It was extremely hot and no refreshments to be found unless you wanted to pay, even for water. We arrived early and the porters at the airport speedily loaded our luggage onto the coach and we were off to the Cyren Restaurant in Darling Harbour for dinner.
The special menu provided a good selection for us, including 2 glasses of wine or beer. The calamari and seafood platter were our choices for entreés (starters), and salmon for me, Barbara, and Charles, pizza for Earle and Sharon. Dessert was an apple crumble and fruit.

After dinner we headed to the hotel where our luggage had been put into the rooms. It had been a long day and bed called.
